Chandigarh Police Arrest Drug Peddler, a Plumber Latest News: In a significant development under the ongoing special drive against drug trafficking, the Chandigarh Police has arrested a drug peddler and recovered 12.36 grams of heroin from his possession. The operation was carried out by the team of Police Station Sector 31 under the supervision of Inspector Rajiv Kumar, SHO/PS-31.
According to the police, on July 30, 2025, Sub-Inspector Raj Kumar (No. 1425/CHG), along with a police team, was conducting patrols in the Sector 31 area for the prevention and detection of crime. At around 5:15 PM, the team noticed a suspicious individual near the petrol pump in Sector 31, heading from Sector 31 A-B towards Japanese Garden. Upon spotting the police party, the person attempted to turn back abruptly, raising suspicion.
The individual, carrying a bag, was apprehended and searched, leading to the recovery of 12.36 grams of heroin. He was unable to produce any license or permit for possession of the narcotic substance. He was identified as Pardeep, also known as Deepak, son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Phase-1, Ram Darbar, Chandigarh. The accused, aged 28, is a plumber by profession and has studied up to 10th grade.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 149 dated July 30, 2025, under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Sector 31, Chandigarh.
