Chandigarh Weather Update Latest News Today: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Chandigarh today and tomorrow, i.e August 1. Residents should prepare for intense rain, potentially accompanied by storms, strong thunder, and lightning.
Safety Advisories
The department advises against outdoor activities during the rain and recommends avoiding shelter under trees and staying clear of electrical wires due to the risk of lightning.
Current Weather Conditions
Yesterday, light rain was observed in some parts of the Tricity. Chandigarh recorded 30.4 mm of rainfall, while the International Airport experienced light rain that went undetected. Mohali, however, saw no recorded rainfall.
Despite these conditions, temperatures remain high. The maximum temperature in Chandigarh yesterday was 36.2°C, which is about 3°C above the seasonal average. Currently, the temperature is around 29°C with humidity at 91%.
Temperature Trends
The Meteorological Department forecasts a drop in temperature following today’s rain. By August 1, temperatures are expected to fall to around 32°C, with a further decrease of 1°C on August 2.
In Mohali, where the maximum temperature was 37.9°C yesterday, a similar cooling trend is anticipated post-August 1. Humidity levels in Mohali have been recorded at 92% (maximum) and 63% (minimum).
