 Chandigarh’s Parking Relief: Unlimited Entry for Rs 500 as Mayor Launches New Pass 

Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla has announced the introduction of a monthly parking pass system starting January 27. The decision was shared during a press conference where the mayor reviewed her one-year tenure and highlighted the Municipal Corporation’s (MC) recent achievements.

Mayor Babla said the monthly pass will be priced at INR 500 for four-wheelers and INR 250 for two-wheelers. The pass will be valid across all paid parking lots in Chandigarh, offering unlimited entries and exits.

While discussing the city’s financial status, the Mayor credited an INR 125 crore grant from the Ministry of Home Affairs for stabilizing the MC’s budget. She noted that this funding allowed the body to resume essential services and development works that had been stalled due to previous financial constraints.

Highlighting infrastructure progress, the mayor said that 95% of legacy waste at the Dadu Majra dumping ground has been cleared. She further mentioned that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed for a new biogas plant and that the processing of daily garbage has significantly improved.
