DIG Nanak Singh said that Punjab police is capable enough to safeguard its jurisdiction

Punjab Police, on Monday, strongly refuted the allegations of mounting barricades by Haryana Police at Mohali to stop protesters from entering Chandigarh, an official press release said.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ropar Range Nanak Singh, who himself took stock of the situation by visiting the spot along with other officials, confirmed that no nakabandi or checking was done by Haryana Police at the said location. He warned the rumour mongers to refrain from such types of activities to create panic among the masses.

DIG Nanak Singh said that the Punjab police is capable enough to safeguard its jurisdiction and no outside force is allowed to enforce law and order duty inside the state without due permission. He added that in case of such activity, strict legal action will be taken against the concerned.

The DIG informed that the Punjab Police did not refrain anybody from entering Chandigarh. He added that there was free movement of commuters and visitors towards Chandigarh from all the connecting roads from Punjab’s side.
