Chandigarh School Closure Extended: No Physical Classes till Jan 13 Amid Severe Fog

Considering the weather and dense foggy conditions, the UT Education Department has further regulated school timings and holidays for local government, private, and government-aided schools until January 13.

 Earlier, this arrangement was made until January 10, but it has now been extended by three more days to ensure student safety. As per the revised order, there will be no physical classes for students up to Class 8 and non-board classes, including Classes 9 and 11.

However, schools are permitted to organise online classes starting from 9 am and must regulate staff timings accordingly. 

For board classes 10 and 12, schools may remain open from 9.30 am and must close no later than 3.30 pm. These measures are being implemented strictly across the city to mitigate the risks associated with low visibility and extreme cold. 

The department continues to monitor the weather closely.
