No new passport appointments can be scheduled during these five days.
Passport Seva Online portal Down News Today: In a major development, the Passport Seva portal will remain closed for the next five days, starting from August 29, 2024.
The Passport Seva portal will undergo technical maintenance for five days, starting from August 29, 2024. According to an announcement made on the portal's official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that the portal will be temporarily unavailable during this period.
The maintenance work will begin at 8:00 PM IST on Thursday, August 29, and is expected to conclude by 6:00 AM IST on Monday, September 2. During this time, the portal will be inaccessible not only to citizens but also to all related authorities, including the MEA, Regional Passport Offices (RPOs), Bureau of Immigration (BOI), India Security Press (ISP), Department of Posts (DoP), and police authorities.
As a result, no new passport appointments can be scheduled during these five days. The notice also mentioned that any appointments that were previously booked for August 30, 2024, will be rescheduled accordingly, with applicants being informed of the changes.
This temporary shutdown is essential to ensure the smooth functioning of the Passport Seva system in the future. Applicants are advised to plan their passport-related activities accordingly and be aware of the revised appointment schedules once the maintenance work is completed.
