Punjab Budget 2025: Emphasis on Healthcare, Agriculture, and Development latest news: The Punjab Budget 2025, read out by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, is set to emphasize healthcare, agriculture, security, and social welfare.
With a total expenditure of ₹2.36 lakh crore, key initiatives involve organizing the state's first-ever "Drug Census" with ₹150 crore to be spent on it, increasing health insurance cover for 65 lakh families with a higher ceiling of ₹10 lakh per family, and granting ₹9,992 crore power subsidy to the agricultural sector.

The budget further focuses on environmental sustainability by tackling stubble burning, and a ₹979 crore "Khed Da Punjab Badalta Punjab" project will set up 3,000 indoor gyms to encourage fitness.
An amount of ₹125 crore is also allocated for the purchase of emergency response vehicles. With the economy expected to grow at 10% and the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of ₹8.91 lakh crore, the budget focuses on enhancing the developmental framework of Punjab.
