Bank customers across various states are advised to plan their transactions as a long holiday weekend begins today. According to the report, banks in several regions will remain closed for up to four consecutive days starting Friday, January 23, due to a combination of regional festivals, weekend breaks, and Republic Day.

The holiday sequence begins today, Friday, January 23, in several states, including West Bengal, Odisha, and Tripura, on account of the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Basant Panchami. Also, the report notes that bank holidays often vary by state, and customers should check their specific local notifications. While banks in these states remain closed today, a nationwide shutdown will follow immediately starting tomorrow. 

January 24 is a bank holiday, as it is the fourth Saturday of the month, followed by the regular Sunday off on January 25. The long break concludes with a national holiday on January 26 for Republic Day celebrations.

The report confirms that while physical branches will be shut, digital services including ATMs, UPI, and mobile banking will remain fully operational. Customers requiring in-person services like cheque clearances are urged to wait until branches reopen on Tuesday, January 27.
