Amit Sharma, the Managing Director of Spartan Sports Corporation, has been conferred with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in sports administration. This marks a prestigious achievement for the city’s sports industry.
The honour was awarded by École Supérieure Robert de Sorbon (ESRS), a renowned French higher education institution, during the XXVII Sorbon International Convocation held in New Delhi on Saturday.
The doctorate recognises Sharma’s specialisation in reforms and development within sports administration.
Under his leadership, Spartan Sports has grown into a global brand, manufacturing nearly 100 sports-related products, including cricket bats, footballs, and specialised training equipment.
Following the ceremony, Sharma expressed that the honour has significantly boosted his motivation. He said that "I believe I am the first sports industrialist to have received this coveted degree”. He added that the recognition inspires him to design more innovative products.
Vivek Choudhary, Vice-President of ESRS, noted that the recognition reflects Sharma's meaningful contributions toward institutional reforms and the promotion of ethical governance in sports.
