Diesel price in the national capital on Monday inched towards the Rs 81 per litre-mark following a rate hike

New Delhi: Diesel price in the national capital on Monday inched towards the Rs 81 per litre-mark following a rate hike after Diesel prices have increased for the second day in a row. Oil marketing companies (OMCs) on Monday hiked diesel prices by 11 paise per litre.

Petrol and Diesel prices hikedPetrol and Diesel pricesFollowing the hike, diesel prices in the national capital have reached a record high. In Delhi, the price of a litre of diesel has gone up to Rs 81.05 per litre. However, there has been no increase in petrol prices.

Petrol price has remained stable at Rs 80.43 per litre. It may be recalled that on Sunday too, the oil companies had hiked the price of diesel by 16 paise per litre. Each state imposes a separate local sales tax or value added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel.

Petrol and DieselPetrol and Diesel pricesAs a result, diesel and petrol rates vary from state to state. Petrol price was last changed on June 29. In the last five weeks, the price of diesel has gone up by 25 occasions and petrol by 21 times.

Since June 7, petrol has gone up by Rs 9.17 and diesel by Rs 11.66.
