Siwan, Bihar: PM Modi’s Visit Sparks Political Reactions Amid Major Project Inaugurations

Speaking at a public gathering in Siwan, Bihar, during the Prime Minister’s visit today (Friday), Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary stated that whenever Modi visits, he brings gifts to Bihar, and that the state always waits eagerly for his visit.

"I want to thank Prime Minister Modi once again that he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects worth Rs 6 thousand crores here through Namami Gange. PM Modi, please keep coming to Bihar. Whenever you come, you give gifts to Bihar. Bihar keeps waiting for your visit..."

Meanwhile, RJD’s Mrityunjay Tiwari, speaking to ANI, criticized the use of the term “gift,” stating,"The word gift itself is objectionable."

He further said,“It's public money. In a poor state like Bihar, they steal money from the public and give it to capitalists.”

He alleged, “In a poor state like Bihar, more than Rs 50 crores were spent on PM Modi's one event and rally... So, the PM comes here to impose a financial burden on a poor state like Bihar."

On PM Modi’s visit to Bihar, Tiwari added that the Prime Minister tends to visit the state only as elections approach.

“Today, Tejashwi Yadav ji has asked 12-pointed questions to the PM. We challenge the PM to answer at least one of the 12 questions posed to him. What has Bihar got in the last 11 years? He should also talk about the law and order situation in the state..."

Jan Suraaj Founder Prashant Kishor also commented on the PM’s visit, stating, "...PM is not coming for the first time...PM Modi is not coming for the welfare and development of Bihar but to seek votes for the BJP and NDA...”

Referring to the Prime Minister’s flagging off of a state-of-the-art locomotive built at the Marhowra Plant for export to the Republic of Guinea, Kishor said, “Locomotive factory is already there in Marhowrah; it is nothing new. PM should speak on the sugar mill which is closed there...”

He also raised concerns about unfulfilled promises and lack of implementation, "Announcements and promises were made in the past 10–12 years also; however, there were no actions on the ground."

He further questioned, “When will the migration of children from Bihar stop...?”

Congress MP Pramod Tiwari remarked, "PM conducts visits and does inaugurations in a state when elections are approaching. This will continue till November."

At the event, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, speaking in the presence of the Prime Minister, claimed that tremendous progress has been made in Bihar since the NDA came to power and asked, “Have you ever seen such a big gathering before as the one that has gathered here today for PM Modi?"

During the program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple development projects, including those in the water, rail, and power sectors.

He also released the first instalment to more than 53,600 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) and flagged off a state-of-the-art locomotive built at the Marhowra Plant, for export to the Republic of Guinea, under the 'Make in India' initiative.

This marks the first export locomotive manufactured at this facility. According to the PMO, these locomotives are equipped with high-horsepower engines, advanced AC propulsion systems, microprocessor-based control systems, ergonomic cab designs, and incorporate technologies like regenerative braking.

PM Modi also handed over keys to beneficiaries to mark the Grih Pravesh ceremony of more than 6,600 completed houses under PMAY-U.

Speaking at the event, following the inaugurations and foundation stone-laying, the Prime Minister said that the NDA government is carrying forward the life mission of great men like Rajendra Prasad and Brajkishore Prasad with firm determination.

He concluded by saying, “Bihar is going to play a crucial role in India becoming the world's third-largest economic superpower.”
