PM Modi to Inaugurate Projects Worth Rs 5200 Crore in Bihar – Latest News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, soon after returning from his three-nation tour, is scheduled to visit Siwan, Bihar on June 20, where he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate development projects worth over rupees 5200 crore. He will also address a public gathering on the occasion.
A large crowd is moving towards the venue, where PM Modi will address a public rally at the time of filing this report.
According to the PMO, the visit marks a major boost to infrastructure and socio-economic development in the state.
Key highlights include the inauguration of the Vaishali–Deoria railway line project worth over rupees 400 crore, the flagging off of a new train service, and the Vande Bharat Express between Patliputra and Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah.
He will also launch the first export locomotive from Marhowra Plant, bound for the Republic of Guinea, and inaugurate six Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange project, worth over rupees 1800 crore.
He will lay the foundation stone for water supply, sanitation, and STP projects worth over rupees 3000 crore across various Bihar towns and launch 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across 15 substations to enhance the state’s power infrastructure.
PM will also release the first PMAY-U instalment to over 53,600 beneficiaries, along with the Grih Pravesh of 6,600 houses.
These projects aim to improve connectivity, sanitation, energy efficiency, and housing across Bihar.
Earlier this morning, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav posed 12 pointed questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his visit to Bihar. Among them was a question asking why, despite 20 years of NDA rule in the state and 11 years at the Centre, the Prime Minister’s own NITI Aayog and other central agencies continue to rank Bihar among the lowest in poverty reduction, employment, per capita income, investment, literacy, and industrialization.
Commenting on the PM’s visit, RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari told ANI, “The PM is coming to Bihar because the state elections are approaching. Today, Tejashwi Yadav Ji has asked 12 pointed questions to the PM. We challenge him to answer even one. What has Bihar received in the last 11 years? He should also address the law and order situation in the state…”
RJD MP Manoj Jha also demanded accountability from the Prime Minister, stating: “PM Modi must take responsibility for the current law and order situation in the state. He should self-evaluate based on the promises made in 2015 and 2020… Bihar has become a stateless state.”
Just a day before the PM's visit, gunshots were heard near the residences of both RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and Minister Ashok Choudhary at 1 Polo Road, Patna. Reacting to the incident, Tejashwi Yadav said:
“There is a complete rule of criminals now. There is no government… Anarchy has taken over the administration. A shooting took place right outside my residence in a VVIP area — this has never happened before.”
Following his Bihar visit, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Bhubaneswar in Odisha, where he will chair a state-level function at around 4:15 PM and inaugurate as well as lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over rupees 18,600 crore.
