“In recent months, Congress leaders claimed theirs was the bigger party and RJD just a small ‘pichhlaggu' (tag-along)": PM Modi
Bihar Elections: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress are “partners only in name,” accusing both parties of pulling each other down.
Addressing a rally in Bihar’s Bhagalpur, PM Modi said, "Imagine if Bihar’s most corrupt family and the country’s most corrupt family, both out on bail, were in power, the money meant for women’s accounts would have gone into the coffers of Congress-RJD leaders. Even today, despite being far from power, they are busy pulling each other down. They are partners only for name. Their only job is to drag one another lower.”
Pointing to the alleged rift between the RJD and the Congress, the Prime Minister remarked that one would need a microscope to find Congress posters in the city.
“In the city, there are countless RJD posters, but have you seen a single photo of a Congress ‘naamdaar’ (dynast) on them? And if there is one, you’d probably need a microscope to find it. On the other hand, at Congress rallies, they don’t even mention RJD leaders. When RJD leaders make announcements, Congress leaders go silent,” PM said.
“In recent months, Congress leaders claimed theirs was the bigger party and RJD just a small ‘pichhlaggu’ (tag-along), but RJD has challenged that arrogance, now both seem determined to destroy each other,” the prime minister further alleged.
Meanwhile, the first phase of the Bihar assembly election is currently underway in 121 constituencies across 18 districts.
