Ensure Every Child Aged 0 To 5 Years Receives Polio Drops: Punjab Minister Dr. Balbir Singh: The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab, formally launched the SNID Pulse Polio Round at the Community Health Centre, Chanarthal Kalan, in Fatehgarh Sahib.
On this occasion, a state-level event was organized in which Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh participated as the chief guest.
During the event, Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that the polio medicine is called “two drops of life,” and whoever takes this medicine is protected from polio. He said that there are no cases of polio in Punjab, but it is a matter of concern that several cases have been reported in our neighboring countries. Since Punjab shares borders with them, the department continues to conduct testing from time to time, the minister added.
The minister emphasized that it is essential to ensure that every child aged 0 to 5 years receives the polio drops.
He further said that we have to administer this medicine to 15 lakh (1.5 million) children. Today, the first phase involves parents bringing their children to the centers, after which our teams will go door-to-door to administer the drops so that no child is left out. He emphasized that to protect children from severe diseases, they must also be given vaccines.
