2 students washed away in Beas river

Kullu: Two students were washed away in Beas while having a dip in the river near Bashing, four km from here, yesterday. A group of five students reportedly went to have bath in the river. Unfortunately, two of them were washed away in the strong water current. The other three students informed the parents of the victims who further informed the police about the incident. All the students were studying in class VI in a school at Bashing.

Unfortunately, two of them were washed away in the strong water current. The other three students informed the parents of the victims who further informed the police about the incident. All the students were studying in class VI in a school at Bashing.

The police said that Ashish (13), son of Vijay Singh of Bashing village, and Ranjan Kumar (12), son of Panna Lal of Tindi village in Lahaul and Spiti district, could not be traced even after intensive search operation. The Beas is in spate due to the recent rainfall. Rafting in the Beas had been banned by the district administration in the first week of July. The ban is generally imposed on July 15.

The police said a search operation was conducted today as well. Police stations up to Mandi have been informed to undertake a similar exercise along the Beas.
