Police seized contraband worth Rs 2.5 crore

Sonepat: The anti-drug unit of the district police seized 21.40 quintals of postchura (poppy husk) from a truck and also seized around 66 tonnes of illegal stock of postdana (poppy seed) from the Sri Sri Enterprises, an industrial unit in Haryana State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) at Kundli in the district late last evening.

Sonepat: The anti-drug unit of the district police seized 21.40 quintals of postchura (poppy husk) from a truck and also seized around 66 tonnes of illegal stock of postdana (poppy seed) from the Sri Sri Enterprises, an industrial unit in Haryana State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) at Kundli in the district late last evening.

The police arrested the truck occupants, Mukesh, a resident of Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh, and Suresh, a resident of Ajitpura village of Kotputli district in Rajasthan. The value of the seized stock was around Rs 2.50 crore. The accused were produced in a court which sent them to three-day police custody.

During preliminary investigation, the accused admitted that after producing poppy husk from raw material, they supplied it to other parts of the state, including Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Sandeep and Vijender said and added that further investigations were on.
