“There are also three of our players in the men's team: Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, and Arshdeep,” he added.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday proudly said that three “daughters of Punjab” contributed to India’s first-ever victory in the Women's World Cup.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann made the comments while addressing the media in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district. He congratulated the entire team on the historic win.
The Chief Minister said, “Punjabis have always been at the forefront in sports. We are also building the latest grounds so that the children can participate in sports and stay away from drugs. There are three Punjabi players in the women's team: Harmanpreet, Harleen Deol and Amanjot. Three daughters of Punjab contributed a lot to this victory.
“There are also three of our players in the men's team: Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, and Arshdeep,” he added.
In hockey, nine of the eleven players are ours, CM highlighted, adding, “The captain is ours. The captain of the football team is a Punjabi. We are no less than anyone. They have been blaming us unnecessarily. We will bring Punjab back to its Punjabiyat. Wrestling, Kabaddi, Giddha, Bhangra, and joining the army -all of this was the identity of our Punjab. We will bring it back...”
