Farmers court arrest, end agitation

Karnal: As many as 31 farmers, under the banner of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) (Arya faction), today courted arrest at the Mini Secretariat as part of their ongoing ‘jail bharo andolan’, which was launched on August 9. They were later released.

Karnal: As many as 31 farmers, under the banner of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) (Arya faction), today courted arrest at the Mini Secretariat as part of their ongoing ‘jail bharo andolan’, which was launched on August 9. They were later released.

With their release, farmers ended their protest and cancelled the programme of offering arrest on Independence Day tomorrow and announced to chalk out the future plan of action in coming days.

Farmers led by Sewa Singh Arya, BKU state president, were demanding complete loan waiver, implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report and abolition of crop insurance policy.
