Attar Singh Multani, president of the committee, said, “The ex-servicemen are still ready to sacrifice their lives for the country. We feel bad when some misguided youths raise slogans of aazadi and talk about dividing the nation. We all feel bad when some politicians come out in support of such youths”.

A large number of ex-servicemen, wearing their medals, attended the function and shared their experiences. At the same time, they asked the Central government to give a befitting reply to Pakistan and China.

They said politicians should refrain from making statements in context of Army actions as it demoralises the armed forces. The ex-servicemen would struggle for their rights too but in a disciplined way. They requested the district administration to cooperate with the ex-servicemen and resolve their grievances.

Deputy Commissioner Prabhjot Singh, who was also present, said, “We used to hear the casualty reports every day during the war. India had suffered more casualties than Pakistan but still our soldiers won the battle in adverse and challenging conditions”.

The Deputy Commissioner met all ex-servicemen personally and listened to their grievances. He directed the officials concerned to resolve their issues on priority.

Meanwhile, Kharga Corps also celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas at the Vijay Smarak. The General Officer Commanding, Kharga Crops, laid a wreath at the war memorial and paid tribute to the martyrs.
