CM announces Rs 1 lakh reward for info on snatchers

Chandigarh: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced that a reward of Rs 1 lakh would be given to anyone providing information leading to the arrest of purse and chain snatchers in the state. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Police Department.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Ram Niwas; Director General of Police, BS Sandhu; ADGP, Law and Order, Mohd Akil; ADGP, Headquarters, PK Agrawal; ADGP, HR and Litigation, OP Singh; Inspectors General of Police of all ranges and Commissioners of Police. The Chief Minister gave approval for appointing a DCP-level officer in Manesar and Additional Superintendent of Police in Bahadurgarh.

He approved the proposal to convert sanctioned police posts into regular posts, besides converting 1,200 posts of constable into those of sub-inspector. The Chief Minister gave his go-ahead for the creation of new posts of traffic police constables for Panchkula, Faridabad and Gurugram. Khattar issued directions for the construction of new buildings of police stations whose existing buildings were in a dilapidated condition.
