Rohtak: Navdeep Singh Virk, IG, Rohtak Range, has directed the district SPs under the range to take immediate legal action on complaints pertaining to crimes against women and children. Addressing a meeting of the range SPs here today, the IGP told them to ensure prompt cognizance and action on complaints received on women helpline No 1091.
At the same time, Virk directed the SPs to take strict legal action against the complainants who lodged false complaints of rape etc and extort money through honey trap and blackmail. “Identify women who threaten innocent people with rape complaints and extort money. Register cases against them to check the practice,” he asserted.
The Rohtak, Sonepat, Jhajjar, Bhiwani and Dadri police chiefs attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, the IGP pointed out that many a time, residents block roads on small pretexts to get their concerns addressed, which was against the law.
Virk asked the SPs to ensure that nobody was allowed to take the law into their own hands. He directed them to get such blockades videographed and book those blocking the road(s). He also asked the SPs to check under-age driving. The IG asked the SPs to take steps to rein in the suppliers of narcotic drugs and illegal weapons.
