Karnal: Four members of a family, including two children, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance in Karsa Dod village late last night. Balwan (50), his wife Sunita (45) and their daughter Rani (20) died, while their son Randeep (18) is admitted to hospital. His condition is stated to be critical.

“Stress is said to be the reason behind the step,” said Harvinder Singh, SHO, Butana. After consuming the poison, Balwan informed his brother and other family members about the step.

They were taken to Amritdhara My Hospital in Karnal, where Sunita, Balwan and Rani died. The police has started investigation under Section 174 of the CrPC. The bodies had been sent for a post-mortem.
