Director General of Police (DGP) BS Sandhu today said a request was made to the Centre and the paramilitary forces would arrive by tomorrow evening.
He said the Haryana Police were well prepared to deal with the situation and would not allow the law and order situation to deteriorate at any cost.
He said according to inputs received by the police, the INLD planned to stop vehicular traffic near Shambhu barrier in Ambala, Dabwali in Sirsa and in Jind and Kaithal, where vehicles entered the state from the Punjab side.
He asserted that the police would ensure that smooth flow of traffic was not disrupted at any cost.
Earlier, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Ram Niwas, who held a meeting with the DGP and other senior police officers, said the police would not allow anyone to take law and order into one’s hands. The Haryana Police are coordinating with their Punjab counterparts for a joint strategy on meeting the challenge.
Later, Ram Niwas and Sandhu held a meeting with DCs and SPs through video-conferencingand discussed the strategy to deal with the situation.

As part of its agitation on the SYL issue, the INLD had announced that it would stop vehicles coming from Punjab on July 10 to tell commuters about the injustice their state had been meting out to the people of Haryana by denying them their legitimate share of river waters.
Thousands of vehicles from Punjab enter Haryana through the Shambhu barrier on way to the national capital daily. This is the only route for people of Punjab to reach the Indira Gandhi International Airport and other important destinations in Delhi.
Dabwali on the Fazilka-Delhi national highway, Gulha Cheeka in Kaithal and Narwana in Jind also share the boundary with Punjab.
