'Agriculture News: Agriculture is the backbone of India and assists in feeding the millions of people in the country. Be it Punjab, Maharashtra, Bhubaneswar, or Madhya Pradesh, farmers across the country give valuable contributions to the country. 
 
Therefore, agriculture is a source of Income for all the farmers. Meanwhile, a study conducted by Atmashakti Trust, a nonprofit outfit, found that in Bhubaneshwar farming has resulted in increasing the income of farmers and reducing their migration activities in the state. 

The study was conducted by Odhisa, Shramajeebee Manch, and Mahila  Shramajeebee Manch through Atmashakti Trust in March this year among 2008 farmers in Gajapati, Boudh, Nabarangpur and Deogarh districts.

The authority took second crop farming following the Kharif season and provided seeds to the farmers, they provided green gram, black gram, horse gram, and chickpea during 2023- 2024.

From the study, it is found that this year, the farmer grew Rabi crops yielding an average of 154 kg from 0.9 acres of land through which per farmer earns 15000 income from green gram and black gram seeds. 

The study also revealed that second-crop farming has improved the soil health of the land. The cultivation of of crops like green gram, black gram, horse gram and helped in fixing the nitrogen in the soil which can improve fertility.
