Agromet Advisory Service Bulletin for the State of PUNJAB

As the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh, has issued warnings of rainfall across the state, farmers are advised to withhold agricultural practices and irrigation in crops to avoid lodging due to rainfall and gusty winds.

Agromet Advidvisory Service Bulletin for the State of PUNJAB

According to an official release, the following Agromet Advisories have been issued by the Agromet Field Unit (AMFU), Ballowal Saunkhri, for SBS Nagar, SAS Nagar, and Rupnagar districts:

WHEAT (Tillering/Jointing): Regularly monitor the wheat crop for the occurrence of yellow rust. To control termites, broadcast 7 kg Mortel 0.3G (fipronil) or 1200 ml Dursban 20 EC (chlorpyriphos) per acre mixed with 20 kg of moist sand before irrigation.

SUGARCANE (Harvesting): Start harvesting and crushing of mature varieties.

GRAM (Vegetative): The crop requires only one irrigation later, as per requirement. This watering should be done between mid-December and the end of January, depending on the time of sowing and rainfall.

RAPESEED (Gobhi Sarson) (Flowering): For controlling white rust, spray the crop with 250 g Ridomil Gold in 100 litres of water per acre when the crop is 60 and 80 days old.

RAPESEED (Taramira) (Vegetative): Carry out weeding to protect the crop from nutrient and moisture stress.

MUSTARD – Raya (Flowering): For controlling white rust, spray the crop with 250 g Ridomil Gold in 100 litres of water per acre when the crop is 60 and 80 days old.

FRUITS – Citrus (Fruit Formation): Apply FYM @ 25–50 kg per tree for trees aged 4–6 years.
For control of citrus canker, spray 50 g Streptocycline + 25 g copper sulphate in 500 litres of water per acre.

MANGO: For the management of mealy bug, alkathene sheets can be fixed around tree trunks. Apply FYM @ 25–50 kg per tree for trees aged 4–6 years.

BER (Fruit Formation): For control of powdery mildew, spray 0.25% wettable sulphur (250 g in 100 litres of water per acre) or 0.05% Karathane 40 EC (50 ml in 100 litres of water per acre) during mid-December.
