Chandigarh: A crucial meeting between farmer leaders and senior Punjab government officials, under the banner of the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), has begun at Punjab Bhawan (Sector 3) in Chandigarh. Farmer leaders are currently holding talks with the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Intelligence, Punjab.
The meeting, being held under the leadership of Sarwan Singh Pandher, is attended by prominent leaders from various farmer organisations, including:
- Sarwan Singh Pandher (Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee)
- Dilbagh Singh Gill (State President, Bharatiya Kisan Mazdoor Union)
- Balkar Singh Bains (General Secretary, Bharatiya Kisan Mazdoor Union)
- Manjit Rai (President, BKU Doaba)
- Manjit Singh Nihal (BKU Ekta Azad)
- Gurmanit Singh Mangat (President, Progressive Farmers Front, Uttar Pradesh)
- Baldev Singh Zira (President, BKU Krantikari)
- Gurdhian Singh Bhaderi (General Secretary, BKU Bhaderi)
- Balwant Singh Behramke (State President, BKU Behramke)
Farmer leaders had made it clear ahead of the meeting that if no concrete solution emerges from today’s talks, a statewide ‘Rail Roko’ protest will be launched across Punjab on the 20th. Farmers across the state are closely watching the outcome of the meeting underway at Punjab Bhawan.
