The top court has asked the senior superintendent of police of Patiala and Ambala and the deputy commissioners of both districts to hold a meeting and lay down the modalities for the partial opening of the highway.
While passing the order, the apex court stated, "In pursuant to the previous order, the States have suggested names for the purpose of the constitution of the committee. We appreciate the initiative taken by the States by suggesting names that are apolitical....an appropriate committee along with the issues to be determined and respect of which appropriate recommendation shall be made...We propose to pass a brief order on the next date of hearing."
"Meanwhile, we direct the senior superintendent of police of Patiala and Ambala and the deputy commissioners of both the districts to hold a meeting and lay down the modalities for partial opening of the highway initially for the purposes of ambulances, essential services, girl students and daily commuters of the nearby area," the court added.
