From Rome to Paris: Fashion World Mourns the Era-Defining Valentino

The fashion world and Hollywood gathered in the Italian capital today to pay their final respects to legendary designer Valentino Garavani. The funeral service, held at the historic Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, followed a two-day public viewing where hundreds honoured the man frequently called the "last emperor" of Italian fashion.

According to the report, the service saw an outpouring of grief from fraternity and A-list celebrities. Expected attendees included designers Tom Ford and Donatella Versace, alongside Vogue’s Anna Wintour. Hollywood stars such as Anne Hathaway were also present to honour the designer, who passed away at his Rome residence on Monday at the age of 93.

Valentino’s legacy spans decades, having dressed global icons ranging from Jackie Kennedy Onassis to Queen Rania of Jordan. His signature gowns were staples of the Academy Awards, notably in 2001 when Julia Roberts wore a vintage Valentino to accept her Best Actress Oscar.

Although he famously showcased his collections in Paris, Valentino always maintained his atelier in Rome.
