'Paddington 2' to release in India on January 12, 2018

Mumbai: "Paddington 2" will hit theatres in India on January 12 next year.   Directed by Paul King, the film features Ben Whishaw, who voices Paddington and Imelda Staunton as Aunt Lucy. They are joined by actors Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi, Madeleine Harris and Samuel Joslin.  

The second installment, also featuring actors Hugh Grant, Brendan Gleeson and Sanjeev Bhaskar as voice cast, follows the young bear, who devotes himself to buying a present for his Aunt Lucy's 100th birthday and in the ensuing chaos, winds up in prison.

"We had a lot of ideas that never made their way into the first film because they always felt like they belonged in a sequel, rather than an origin story.  

"It always felt like it would be fun to see 'Paddington' at work and he's such a decent character that it felt it could be emotionally satisfying to see him fall prey to an injustice," King said in a statement.

"Paddington 2", is the sequel to the 2014 movie of the same name, which was based on the best-selling book by British author Michael Bond. The film will be distributed by PVR Pictures in India. PTI
