
Diljit made history as the first person to wear a turban to the Met Gala
Diljit Dosanjh at Met Gala Punjabi Look, latest: Diljit Dosanjh made his Met Gala debut this year, joining the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Kiara Advani. He graced the event in a regal, Maharaja-inspired outfit, turning heads on the ultimate fashion playground.
Styled in an ivory sherwani adorned with intricate embroidery, Diljit completed his look with a white turban featuring a feathered ornament and carried a traditional sword (kirpan). His outfit, designed by Prabal Gurung, also included a long white cape inscribed with Punjabi alphabets — a powerful nod to his roots.

Bringing Punjabi identity, pride, and culture to the global stage, Diljit represented with confidence, style, and authenticity.
Sharing pictures from the Met Gala on Instagram, he wrote, "Inspired by the theme of Black Dandyism, I bring my turban, my culture & my mother tongue 'Gurmukhi' to the MET GALA."

The theme of the 2025 Met Gala, held on May 5, was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrating the rich legacy of Black dandyism and the styling of Black diasporic identity, first explored in a 2009 publication.
This year’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” paid tribute to the art of suiting and menswear featured in the exhibition.
Diljit made history as the first person to wear a turban to the Met Gala. In one of the videos shared on his Instagram handle, he is also seen with world-famous singer Shakira.
