Artistic Genius Gone Too Soon: Tributes Pour in as Nitin Desai's Tragic Demise Shocks Film Industry

MUMBAI: The Entertainment industry was left in shock on Wednesday as the news of the tragic demise of famous art director Nitin Desai surfaced. Nitin, who was known for his exceptional work in designing sets for iconic films like 'Devdas,' 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo,' and 'Jodha Akbar,' was found hanging in his studio in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. He was 58 years old.

Local authorities immediately responded to the distressing incident after receiving information about Nitin Desai's untimely demise. The police took possession of his body as they began investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Nitin Desai was a highly acclaimed art director, garnering widespread recognition for his brilliance in the field, and he was honored with the prestigious National Award four times for his outstanding contributions to cinema.

The Art Director's last film venture was Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Panipat,' showcasing his unparalleled skills in creating mesmerizing sets for the big screen. Additionally, he was actively involved in the world of OTT content, having worked on shows released on Maharana Pratap. Notably, Nitin Desai was also engaged in adorning the famed Lalbaghcha Raja Ganapati pandal in Mumbai.

While the cause of Nitin Desai's apparent suicide is yet to be officially determined, media reports have highlighted a possible financial crisis he may have been facing. Maharashtra MLA Mahesh Baldi expressed concerns over the art director's financial struggles, speculating that it could have been a contributing factor to his tragic decision.

Nitin Desai's illustrious career in the entertainment industry commenced in 1987 with the television show 'Tamas,' where he worked tirelessly for 13 consecutive days and nights on the set. In a previous interview, he revealed his unwavering dedication to his craft, acknowledging that even a brief 15-minute break felt like wasting precious time during those intense shooting schedules.
