BREAKING: Supreme Court declines to cancel NEET-UG 2024 exam

It comes as a setback to those who filed petition seeking cancellation of exam.

Supreme Court Verdict on NEET-UG 2024 Exam Latest News: In a major development, the Supreme Court on Tuesday said that it realized that directing a fresh NEET-UG for the present year would be replete with serious consequences which will be for over 24 lakh students who appeared in this exam.

According to information, the apex court refused to cancel the NEET-UG 2024 exam. SC said that the demand for the cancellation of the exam was not justified. The top court added that there was no material to show that the sanctity of the entire exam has been affected.

The Supreme Court also stated that data on record was not indicative of a systemic leak of the question paper which would indicate a disruption of the sanctity of the exam.

The essential conclusions included:

(1) the fact that the leak of NEET UG paper 2024 is not in dispute;
(2) post the transfer of the investigation, CBI has filed 6 reports dated 10 July, 17 July, and 21 July 2024
(3) Disclosures indicate the investigation is continuing, however, CBI indicated that as per the present materials about 155 students drawn from the exam centers at Hazaribagh and Patna appeared to be beneficiaries of the fraud.
(4) at the present stage there is the absence of material on record sufficient to lead to the conclusion that the result of the exam was vitiated or there was a systemic breach in the sanctity of the exam.
(5) the data produced on record is not indicative of the systemic leak of the question paper which would lead to the destruction of the sanctity of the exam
(6) The Court is guided by the well-settled test of the possibility of segregating the tainted from the untainted. Moreover, it is important to clarify that if the investigation reveals the involvement of an increased number of beneficiaries, action will be taken against them
