Implementation of new timings was deferred to November 4 due to the Diwali weekend.
Punjab School Winter Timings Change Latest News Today: Punjab’s school timings are set to change for over 19,000 institutions, including government, private, aided, and recognized schools.
Starting November 4, the new schedule will have primary schools operate from 9 am to 3 pm, while middle and senior secondary schools will function from 9 am to 3:20 pm. This adjustment, announced by the Department of Education, is in response to changing weather conditions.
The state traditionally modifies school hours three times annually. From April to September, schools open from 8 am to 2 pm. During October, primary schools operate from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, and middle to senior secondary schools from 8:30 am to 2:50 pm.
From November through February, primary schools will run from 9 am to 3 pm, while middle and senior secondary schools will have extended hours until 3:20 pm.
Although the new schedule was originally planned to take effect on November 1, the implementation was deferred to November 4 due to the Diwali weekend. The decision ensures a smooth transition for students and staff as they return to school post-holiday.
This change in school timings is part of an annual routine to align educational schedules with seasonal shifts, aiming to provide a more comfortable learning environment for students during the colder months.
