Barnala Police have achieved a major breakthrough in their ongoing campaign against criminal elements by arresting three members of a gang who were allegedly planning to attack popular Punjabi singer Gulab Sidhu. The arrests were made following a press conference addressed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam.

According to the SSP, City-2 Police Station SHO Charanjit Singh received secret information that a group had formed a gang to target well-known personalities, threaten them, and extort money. Acting on this tip-off, a police team carried out a planned operation and arrested Baljinder Singh alias Kinda, the current Sarpanch of village Kotdunna in Barnala district, along with Balwinder Singh alias Binder Mann and Gurvinder Singh alias Gill near the Moga-Barnala bypass.

During the operation, police recovered a .32 bore country-made pistol with cartridges, a dummy pistol, four mobile phones, a wooden stick, and a Swift car from the accused. During interrogation, the suspects allegedly admitted that they were preparing to target Punjabi singer Gulab Sidhu. The SSP said the motive was personal rivalry, as the Sarpanch of Kotdunna village was angry over a song sung by Gulab Sidhu related to Sarpanches. The Sarpanch had also uploaded a threatening video against the singer earlier.

Police stated that the accused wanted to attack Gulab Sidhu to create fear and establish their dominance, with the intention of later extorting money from other celebrities and businessmen. According to the police press note, Baljinder Singh alias Kinda already has 12 criminal cases registered against him, Gurvinder Singh alias Gill has two cases, and Balwinder Singh alias Binder Mann has one case.
