Nicholas Pooran scored the fastest fifty of IPL 2023
KARNATAKA: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 1 wicket in a high-scoring thrilling match of Indian Premiere League (IPL) 2023 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Karnataka on Monday.
Marcus Stoinis smashed 65 runs for LSG, Nicholas Pooran smashed the joint-second fastest fifty, scoring 62 runs from just 19 balls. Pooran scored the fastest fifty of IPL 2023 and was declared as the Player of the match. Ayush Badoni scored 30 runs before getting dismissed hit-wicket. Avesh Khan scored the winning single to fetch victory in the match. Virat Kohli scored 61 off 44, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis scored an unbeaten 79 off 46 balls and Glenn Maxwell
Chasing a target of 213, LSG got off to a terrible start, losing Kyle Mayers for 0 in the first over. After that, Wayne Parnell then removed Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya in the fourth over. However, Marcus Stoinis along with skipper KL Rahul added 76-run for the third wicket, before Karn Sharma removed the Aussie for 65(30).
After returning to the ground, Captain KL Rahul leaded the match entirely into LSG's favour. Nicholas Pooran along with Impact Substitute Ayush Badoni added 84 runs for the sixth wicket in 35 balls, before Mohammed Siraj dismissed Pooran for 62 off 19 balls. Badoni was removed in the 19th over for 30(24) as RCB took the match to the final ball of the contest. Maxwell was cleaned up by Mark Wood for 59(29) in the final over, while Du Plessis returned unbeaten on 79(46).
