Vinesh’s dream was cut short after she failed to make the weight on the morning of the gold medal bout against the USA’s Sarah Hildebrandt.

Vinesh Phogat medal Hope At Paris Olympics 2024: The whole nation was shocked after Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who was set to fight for a Gold medal, was disqualified from the final event of wrestling (50kg) in the Paris Olympics 2024. However, news has recently surfaced which has raised the hopes of Indians for a medal. 

Notably, Vinesh Phogat had filed an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) demanding a well-deserved silver medal after her other appeal of a re-weigh-in for the Gold medal match was rejected by the CAS. 

Later, she demanded a silver medal as she was under the set-weight for her semi-final match wherein she defeated the Cuba wrestler who was later advanced to the final after Vinesh Phogat's setback. Even in the finals, Cuba wrestler Guzman was defeated by the USA wrestler.  

Following her heartbreaking exit from the Paris Olympics 2024 wrestling competition, Vinesh Phogat announced her retirement from the sport on Thursday.

Set to become the first Indian woman to compete in a wrestling final at the Olympics, Vinesh’s dream, however, was cut short after she failed to make the weight on the morning of the gold medal bout against the USA’s Sarah Hildebrandt.
