Shubman Gill Played an Unbeaten Innings, Contributing 67 Runs from 62 Balls

PALLEKELE: In a thrilling encounter at the Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Pallekele, Sri Lanka, India emerged victorious against Nepal in the 5th match of the Asia Cup 2023. The contest saw India winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Nepal's batting lineup was under pressure from the onset and succumbed to the Indian bowling attack, getting all out for 230 runs in 48.2 overs. This set India a target of 231 runs for victory.

However, rain intervened, causing a reduction in the number of overs, with the revised target for India being 145 runs in 23 overs. The Indian team displayed remarkable composure and skill, reaching the target in just 20.1 overs without losing a wicket, securing a resounding 10-wicket win. This victory also ensured India's place in the coveted Super-4 stage of the tournament.

India's innings commenced with a strong start, reaching 17 runs in 2.1 overs before the rain break. Following the resumption of play, the revised target of 145 runs was achieved with ease. Captain Rohit Sharma led from the front, scoring an impressive 74 runs off 59 balls, featuring 5 sixes and 6 fours. Shubman Gill played an unbeaten innings, contributing 67 runs from 62 balls with 1 six and 4 fours. Notably, This commanding win solidifies India's position as a strong contender in the Asia Cup 2023.
