Trudeau’s Flimsy Claims Against India Exposed by Canadian Report

Trudeau’s inability to present evidence in the Nijjar case has drawn sharp criticism, both domestically and internationally.

Canada's Report on Hardeep Singh Nijjar Murder Case Latest News: In a startling revelation, a Canadian commission report has exposed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s baseless accusations against India regarding the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The report reveals that Trudeau, despite lacking credible evidence, plunged India-Canada relations into turmoil, jeopardizing diplomatic ties for unfounded claims.

Since September 2023, Trudeau has repeatedly claimed “credible evidence” linking Indian agents to Nijjar’s assassination in British Columbia. However, the newly released report titled Public Inquiry Into Foreign Interference in Federal Electoral Processes and Democratic Institutions found “no definitive link to a foreign state” in the case. This directly contradicts Trudeau’s assertions, which India had earlier dismissed as “absurd.”

The Canadian PM’s allegations led to a significant diplomatic fallout, including mutual expulsions of diplomats and heightened tensions between the two nations. Trudeau’s accusations, labeled as “horrific mistakes,” have now been undermined by findings from his own country’s investigative body.

A Diplomatic Misstep

The report by Commissioner Marie-Josée Hogue highlighted the fragile basis of Trudeau’s claims, stating, “Disinformation is used as a retaliatory tactic to punish decisions that run contrary to a state’s interests.” It noted that no conclusive evidence tied India to Nijjar’s killing and suggested that Trudeau’s allegations may have triggered retaliatory misinformation campaigns.

The controversy began in June 2023 when Nijjar, wanted in India for his involvement in terrorist activities, was gunned down in Canada. Trudeau’s subsequent remarks accusing India of violating Canada’s sovereignty sparked a diplomatic crisis, with both nations engaging in tit-for-tat expulsions of diplomats.

Political Fallout for Trudeau

Trudeau’s inability to present evidence in the Nijjar case has drawn sharp criticism, both domestically and internationally. His government has long been accused of leniency towards Khalistani activities on Canadian soil, further straining ties with India.

The fallout from Trudeau’s claims has also impacted Canada’s economy and global standing, with the Prime Minister now facing mounting backlash. Reports indicate Trudeau plans to step down, leaving his Liberal Party in a precarious position ahead of the upcoming general election.

This report further damages Trudeau’s credibility, painting a picture of a leader who waged a diplomatic war without solid grounds, leaving Canada’s international relations in disarray.
