
Akash's condition is out of danger after surgery
Paras Rana, who hails from Derabassi in Punjab, died in a road accident in Ukraine while his companion was seriously injured. The only brother of two sisters, Paras was a fourth year MBBS student in the city of Kiev, Ukraine. He died on Thursday evening due to excessive bleeding during hip operation after the accident. After being airlifted from Ukraine, the body of Paras is expected to reach his native village Lalru on Sunday or Monday morning.
Lalru resident Randeep Singh Rana had two elder sisters and a younger son Paras in his family. The eldest daughter is a lawyer in Canada while Paras and Nikita were pursuing MBBS in Ukraine.
Both the brothers had returned during the war last year. Although Nikita completed her final year online. Being in the third year, Paras went to Ukraine with his companions on June 22 last year. According to Randeep, on the night of April 15, he had gone to get his visa to return to India with his friend Akash, a resident of Sonipat. They had an open Audi car without a roof, which was being driven by Paras.
The car met with an accident at around 9 pm in Ukraine. As the seat belts were not on, Paras and Akash were thrown away from the car. In the accident, Paras suffered fractures in his leg, pelvis and spinal cord, while Akash's five ribs were broken and his liver was also damaged. Paras had a successful spine operation on 18th April, hip surgery on 27th April. Before the surgery, Paras had an open conversation with his family at 1 pm on Thursday and asked them to contact him after the surgery.
On Thursday evening at 6:30, the family got information that Paras had died during the surgery. After this, wave of mourning engulfed the family. Meanwhile, Akash's condition is out of danger after surgery.
