“I came up with the dance myself. It was just spontaneous,” Rayyan told the BBC.
Who is Rayyan Arkan Dhika, Aura Farming Dancer? – Rayyan Arkan Dhika, an 11-year-old from Indonesia, has become an overnight internet sensation after a video clip of him dancing on the tip of a racing boat went viral.
The video showcases Rayyan's effortless “Aura Farming” moves and has inspired countless social media users to recreate his dance with the same charisma and flair.
Rayyan is a Class 5 student from Kuantan Singingi Regency in Riau Province. According to media reports, the viral clip was filmed during last year’s annual Pacu Jalur boat race – a centuries-old rowing festival held every August in Indonesia. In the local language, Pacu means race and Jalur means long boat.
Each canoe-like boat in the race traditionally features a young dancer, known as a Tukang Tari, who performs at the front. Their role is more than ceremonial – the dancer energizes the rowers with rhythmic movements, balance, and expressive gestures.
The video was originally shared on TikTok in January by a user named Lensa Rams and has since gained widespread attention.
In the video, Rayyan is seen wearing a traditional Teluk Belanga outfit, complete with a Malay Riau headcloth and stylish sunglasses. He has been performing as a Tukang Tari since the age of nine.
Recognizing his talent and cultural impact, Indonesian authorities have named Rayyan a tourism ambassador for the Riau region and awarded him a scholarship fund to support his education.
“I came up with the dance myself. It was just spontaneous,” Rayyan told the BBC.
