South Kivu Governor Theo Ngwabidje said dozens of people have gone missing near Lake Kivu

Landslides and floods occurred in the African country Congo due to heavy rains for 2 days. So far, more than 176 people have lost their lives due to the Natural Disaster. According to a report, the Kalehe area of South Kivu province was flooded on May 4 due to rising water levels in a river. Due to this, Bushushu and Nyamukubi villages were flooded.

Dozens of people also died in Rwanda, a neighboring region of Kivu province, due to the heavy rain. South Kivu Governor Theo Ngwabidje said dozens of people have gone missing near Lake Kivu on the Kalehe region and the Rwandan border. Hundreds of houses were also washed away due to flood in Kivu province.

Officials from South Kivu province visited the affected area. Meanwhile, they said that a total of 176 people have died due to the flood and 100 people are missing. According to the local administration, the banks of the rivers broke due to heavy rain, due to which many villages were submerged in water.
