Uttarakhand News: Nanda Devi Mahotsav 2025, Nandastami, Nainital Weather Updates Latest News: The Nanda Devi Mahotsav 2025 is underway in the Uttarakhand district of Nainital, where thousands of devotees are gathering at Naina Devi Temple on Nandastami, amid a yellow alert issued by the state weather department, warning of a possibility of intense spell of rain at isolated places in the district.
An official of Ram Sevak Sabha, Lalit Tiwari, told IANS, a news agency, "On Brahma Muhurta, the idols of the goddess, crafted by traditional artists, were consecrated by Pandit Bhagwati Prasad Joshi... Devotees queued patiently for darshan.."
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed best wishes to residents of the state on Nandashthami.
In a post on X, the CM said, "Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the residents of the state on the auspicious festival of Nandashthami dedicated to the worship of Mother Bhagwati Nanda-Sunanda. May the grace of Mother Nanda-Sunanda continue to illuminate every home and courtyard, and may Uttarakhand keep advancing on the path of continuous progress—this is my prayer."
Uttarakhand Weather Update for August 31: IMD has issued an orange and a yellow alert in Uttarakhand for today, August 31, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Under the orange alert, IMD has warned Dehradhu, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithorgarh, Bageshwar, Champawat, and Udham Singh Nagar of Heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning, squalls and more adverse weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the rest of the districts in the state have been warned of heavy rainfall under a yellow alert, accompanied by similar weather conditions as those under the orange alert.
