25th Meeting of Central Regional Council: Proposal for Glacier Research Centre, Chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah
Home Minister Amit Shah chiars 25th Central Regional Council Meet in Uttrakhand latest news updates: The 25th meeting of the Central Regional Council was held in Varanasi on Monday under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, proposals were made for the establishment of a Glacier Research Centre, a Biodiversity Conservation Institute, and an International Adventure Sports Training Centre in Uttarakhand.
Pushkar Singh Dhami urged greater cooperation through the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to strengthen road, communication, and security infrastructure in border areas. He also shared his views on the development of amenities in border villages under the Vibrant Villages Scheme, and emphasized the need for the early expansion of BharatNet and satellite communication services.
Suggestions were also made to simplify the grant process under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, revoke the 1989 Remote Valley Notification, and provide additional assistance to the state for the smooth functioning of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, especially in light of the damage caused by landslides, heavy rainfall, and cloudbursts during the monsoon season in Uttarakhand’s hilly regions.
Further, support was sought from the Central Government for the successful organization of the Nanda Raj Jat Yatra (2026) and the Kumbh Mela (2027).

In alignment with this goal, our government is also working at a fast pace to establish the state as a developed Uttarakhand, so that every citizen of the state can be connected to the mainstream of development and actively participate in building a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India),” Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said in a statement issued on his X handle.
