Satinder Sartaaj Wins ‘Best Newcomer’ Award at London Independent Film Festival

London: Punjabi singer-songwriter Satinder Sartaaj’s performance in “The Black Prince,” a film based on the true story of the last king of the kingdom of Punjab, Maharajah Duleep Singh, is being celebrated at various film festivals, and the latest laurel to come his way is the ‘Best Newcomer’ award at the London Independent Film Festival.

London: Punjabi singer-songwriter Satinder Sartaaj’s performance in “The Black Prince,” a film based on the true story of the last king of the kingdom of Punjab, Maharajah Duleep Singh, is being celebrated at various film festivals, and the latest laurel to come his way is the ‘Best Newcomer’ award at the London Independent Film Festival.

Sartaaj was announced the winner after the week-long festival concluded April 24, where his portrayal of Maharaja Duleep Singh won him praise from the highly discerning English audience.

Sartaaj, playing the complex and troubled character of the last king of Punjab, has been earning plaudits from all quarters for his raw, emotional and deeply affecting portrayal of the lead character.

Last month, he won the ‘Best Debut’ award at the Accolade Global Film Competition held in San Diego, Calif.
