Chandigarh: The Local Government, Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister, Punjab, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu has expressed shock over the demise of artist-painter Mr. Malkiat Singh who passed away this morning. He was 75.

Calling the demise of Mr. Malkiat Singh a huge loss for the artistic world, Mr. Sidhu said that Mr. Malkiat Singh always kept the love for rural Punjab uppermost in his artistic creations of excellence.

The minister prayed to the almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss.

The Chairman of the Punjab Kala Parishad Padamshri Dr. Surjit Patar has also expressed grief at the passing away of Mr. Malkiat Singh describing him as a rare gem of the art world.
