Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police have been facing flak for helping the accused Vikas Barala in the stalking case. When the matter heated up in the country, it mounted pressure on Chandigarh Police. The National Commission for Women also pulled up the police and asked for the fair probe into the matter.
Chandigarh Police on Monday said there were no CCTV footage of an incident involving Haryana BJP President Subhash Barala's son who is accused of stalking the daughter of a senior IAS officer. But, on Tuesday the Police found the key CCTV footage depicting the Vikas Barala’s car chasing the victim’s car. Why Police told that there was no CCTV footage? Why police failed to explain that the charges of attempt to abduction was dropped in the FIR.
There was more pressure on police, as the National Commission for Women called for a fair probe and regular updates. Lalitha Kumaramangalam, the NCW chairperson directed the Chandigarh Police to conduct a quick, immediate, fair and free investigation in the case. Even the commission also told the police to update all the information time to time.
