Former SHO Gurdeep Singh & Rashpal Singh Filed an Application in the Court

FARIDKOT: In a Significant Development during the ongoing hearing of the 2015 Kotakpura firing case, demands have emerged to include protestors in the charge sheet. Gurdeep Singh, the former Station House Officer (SHO) implicated in the case, and Rashpal Singh, the policeman on duty during the incident, have filed a application in the court related to the Kotakpura shooting incident, urging for the protestors to be formally charged.

The Application submitted in court by Gurdeep Singh outlines that a number of police officers and personnel sustained injuries on the day of the incident. In response, the City Kotakpura police had registered a case against the protestors involved in the events. Notably, the Punjab Haryana High Court's instructions led to the registration of two FIRs in connection with the Kotakpura firing incident. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) tasked with the investigation has successfully filed a charge sheet against the police officers implicated in the case. However, no parallel charge sheet has been initiated against the protestors mentioned in FIR number 192.

The chargesheet implicated six police officers along with the late Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. Following Parkash Singh Badal's demise, the trial against the remaining seven accused is currently ongoing in the trial court.
