Highest rainfall of 22 mm was recorded in Patiala

CHANDIGARH: Amid the Western Disturbances in North India, the Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow alert in Punjab today. Continuous rainfall engulfed the state on March 31. 

In Punjab, the highest rainfall of 22 mm was recorded in Patiala. Along with this, there are chances of rain in the whole state. According to the Meteorological Department, the adjoining districts of Himachal may experience rain along with hailstorm. An orange alert has been issued by the meteorological department in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Nawan Shahr, Ludhiana, Mohali, Chandigarh, Patiala in Punjab. The Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of rain along with hailstorm. Along with this, winds can also blow at a speed of 30 to 50 km per hour.

According to meteorologists, this type of rain is seen in December, January and mid-February. This remains a matter of concern for the farmers. Harvesting begins after a few days. In such a situation, the rain is damaging the crops. The yield of wheat crop is falling due to strong winds. Hailstorm will cause huge loss to the farmers.

A huge drop in the day temperature has been recorded in the state. On Friday morning, the temperature of most of the cities of the state has dropped by 1 to 2 degrees compared to the previous day. On the other hand, 22.3 mm rain was recorded in Patiala. Similarly, 3 mm of rain has been recorded in Amritsar, 1 mm in Jalandhar and 1.6 mm in Ludhiana. 6.8 mm of rain has been recorded in Mohali and 11 mm in Chandigarh.
