Sukhbir asks CM to appear as witness before SC monitored inquiry into 84 massacre press release

Chandigarh August 25 – Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to listen to the voice of his conscience as a Sikh and appear as an eye witness before the Supreme-Court monitored inquiry into the role of the Congress party and its top leaders in the brutal massacre of thousands of innocent Sikhs in October-November 1984.     But by leaving out deliberately the names naming of his friends Jagdish Tytler and Kamal Nath among the names of the killers of 1984 in his speech in the Vidhan Sabha yesterday,

the Chief Minister has actually shocked the entire Sikh community and heaped more pain and humiliation on the survivors of thousands of innocent victims of Congress goons in November 1984. These goons were acting on orders of the then PM Rajiv Gandhi to make the “earth tremble after the fall of a big tree” and  to take “khoon ka badla Khoon” after the assassination of Mrs Indira Gandhi. Mr Badal accused Captain Singh of trying to save his chair by preferring to be loyal to the killers of the Sikhs rather than to thousands of innocent victims of these killers. “You are stabbing the community in the back. You are declaring yourself a protector of the Gandhi family rather than of the Sikhs.

This is truly disgraceful but it finally reveals your true colours before the Sikh community who must feel cruelly betrayed by you,” Sukhbir Badal tod the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.       Mr. Badal said that the sudden rush of certificates of innocence to the Congress party being issued through statements by Rahul Gandhi, Captain Singh and other Congress leaders is a part of a deep rooted conspiracy to influence the Supreme Court Monitored inquiry on the 1984 genocide.” Mr Badal said that appearing before the Supreme Court inquiry as an eye witness, which he ahs himself claimed that he was, to the tragedy of Sikhs in 1984, is the bare minimum which should do as an honest and truthful member of the Sikh community.

Sukhbeer Singh Badal Mr Badal said that earlier , it was only Rahul Gandhi who was doing flip-flops on the role of the Congress and its leaders, confirming it at one place and denying at another . Now, Captain Singh has also joined his president only to save the Gandhi family , “And the only reasons behind this rush to be seen as a protector of the killers rather than the victims is Captain Singh’s eagerness to save his own positon as Chief Minister.

There is an atmosphere of suspicion and uncertainty about a change in the leadership at the top in Punjab. Captain Singh is really perturbed over reports of an impending change in the Chief Minstership here as his potential rivals and successors are flexing muscle. This is also the reasons behind a race among leaders of Punjab Congress to abuse Mr Parkash Singh Badal especially on Sikh issues because each one of these Congress leaders want to prove to Rahul that he can fight the SAD and Mr Badal the best. “
