A petrol pump owner was injured when two unidentified masked men allegedly shot at him in Kharkan, about 16 kms from here, police said today.
The motorcyclists also took away petrol pump owner Dinesh Walia's cash and a revolver, the police said. The incident took place at about 11 pm last night when Walia, a resident of Vijay Nagar, was closing down the filling station.
Two motorcycle-borne unidentified masked men tried to snatch his bag containing about Rs 46,000. Walia resisted and fired some shots to scare the robbers. In retaliation, they also fired some shots, injuring him, the police said.
Before fleeing, the robbers snatched the bag containing cash and .32 bore revolver from Walia, who was later admitted to a private hospital where doctors removed bullet from his body.
A case under the relevant provisions of the The Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act has been registered in this connection at Sadar Police Station, they said.
